Description
The sun sets over the Seine River as it flows lazily through the heart of Paris, France, as seen from the top of the Eiffel Tower.
In September 2019, I took a trip to France and spent a week in Paris before heading to Bayeux and spending a week touring the D-Day sites. After taking an overnight flight and landing sometime around 8 in the morning, it was time for a nap since I'm never able to sleep on planes. That was really hard, because I was in a place I had never been to before, so I really wanted to go explore. But, I managed to calm my excitement and sleep for a few hours before getting up in late afternoon. I stayed just down the street from the Eiffel Tower, so of course that was the first thing to cross off my list of sites to see.
I wandered over there and found a lengthy lineup to go up the tower - I guess it's such a famous landmark that most first-time tourists in Paris have the same idea as I had, but I didn't mind. I had been looking forward to that trip for months, so I wasn't going to let a little thing like a crowd deter me. Up to, there were breathtaking views of the city.
Having that nap worked out well, because otherwise, I likely wouldn't have been up the tower during sunset.
