Rock formations jut out of the Atlantic Ocean at the volcanic black sand beach of Reynisfjara near the small town of Vik in Iceland during a beautiful sunset.
This picture was taken in October 2016 while on vacation with a friend. One of our bus tours took us to this place, and I really didn't know what to expect since I hadn't researched it beforehand. The rock formations were cool, but what I found really neat was the reason you don't swim here. If you were to stand on the shore and look directly south, there would be not a single mass of land between you and Antarctica. That's maybe 15000 kilometres of nothing but water.
