An abandoned building, part of the former Sun Valley Gardens nudist resort, sits crumbling in the woods in Pelham, Ontario on a bright sunny day.
The resort operated from 1954 to 1982; in 1961, it was used as one of the locations for the movie "Have Figure, Will Travel", with the club owner acting as an advisor as well as playing a bit part. The club had a significant impact on Ontario's nudist/naturist scene, with many of the existing clubs owing their existence in some way to former members of Sun Valley Gardens.
The original 25-acre site remains largely untouched from when it closed in 1982. Derelict structures still stand, being swallowed by surrounding woodland, and the club's pool still holds water, although it's been overtaken by algae.
Hi, everybody! Toronto-based photographer here, having lived in this city all my life. It's a great place if you like large, busy cities, but I prefer smaller places. Anyway, although my education and work experience has been primarily in math and computer programming and similar subjects, my passions lie elsewhere.
